Survey: 1 in 4 UK Patients Use AI or Social Media for Health Advice

Recent data shows about 24% of UK patients are turning to AI chatbots or social media for health-related guidance, often while waiting for overstretched NHS access.
At Medivys, we know patients want to be informed – so the key is regulation of these tools, which is why we welcome the National Commission into the Regulation of AI in Healthcare. There is, though, no substitute for the doctor–patient relationship, which is why we need to reduce the bureaucratic burden clinicians face.
Patient centricity is obviously important, but general practice is crucial to providing that expert medical generalist service that offers continuity of care across a person’s health record.
